Embrace the Winter Magic with These Local Holiday Events!

It’s time to make way for the sweet scent of freshly baked cookies, mulled wine, and the unmistakable fragrance of fresh evergreens. We’re excited to share some of our favorite local holiday events that are sure to light up your season and fill your heart with joy. Enjoy the holiday magic in the DMV!

LIGHT SHOWS:
Alexandria Holiday Boat Parade of Lights -Old Town Alexandria’s waterfront will shine as dozens of brightly lit boats cruise along one mile of the Potomac River shoreline. Enjoy dockside festivities in Waterfront Park including a pop-up beer garden from Port City Brewing Company, food, activities, and more. (December 2, 5:30 pm)

Bull Run Festival of Lights –A drive-through of 2.5 miles of festive light displays. (Through January 7)

Garden of Lights at Brookside Gardens – More than one million dazzling and colorful LED lights are handcrafted into original works depicting animals, flowers, and other natural elements at this extraordinary outdoor light display. (Through Dec 31)

ICE! and Christmas at Gaylord National, National Harbor –From ice sculptures to winter activities like ice tubing and skating there is a cool activity for everyone! (Through Dec 31)

Ice & Lights at The Winter Village at Cameron Run —boasts light displays for all to enjoy! Don’t miss evening outdoor ice skating starting December 1! (Through Jan 1)

Luminocity Festival -Amazing wintery light display at Montgomery County Fairgrounds! (Through January 15)

Meadowlark’s Winter Walk of Lights -take a lovely garden stroll through fun holiday light displays. Concludes with a concession stand selling s’mores kits, popcorn, and hot chocolate. Advanced tickets recommended (Through January 7)

Zoolights – the iconic Smithsonian National Zoo in Washington DC will be shining bright with over half a million glimmering LED. (Through December 30, Mon-Sat 5-9 pm, Sun 5- 8 pm)

TREE LIGHTINGS:

Church Street Holiday Stroll in Vienna – The annual tree lighting on Church Street with music, activities, and more. (November 27, 6 pm)

CityCenter’s 10th Annual Holiday Tree Lighting – take in the glorious sight to behold while enjoying music and entertainment to celebrate the night! (November 25, 5-7 pm)

Light Up Arlington – Clarendon Menorah Lighting – Celebrate the season with the lighting of the Menorah, Chanukah music, and delicious treats! (December 10, 5 pm)

HOLIDAY MARKETS:
Downtown Holiday Market  -Washington DC’s beloved outdoor market continues to support small businesses and entrepreneurs across the region. This year’s lineup will feature more than 70 exhibitors including Black-owned and minority-owned businesses, food vendors, and performances. (Through December 23, 12noon – 8 pm)

Mosaic Holiday Village Powered by URBNMARKET  -Grab a picture with Santa and drop by to shop for unique gifts from local shops and artisans! (December 16-17)
